zipper
The innovation is called the zipper. The zipper was adopted and made on April 29, 1913 made by Gideon Sundback. Originally Whitcomb L. Judson created the first zipper. The zipper was created all because of a friend's stiff back. His friend could not do up his shoes. Judson came up with a slide fastener that could be opened and closed with just the pull of one hand. The idea was new, and within just a few weeks he had came up with a model. On August 29, 1893 he had patented his "clasp locker" and by 1905 they were being used in industries and considered to practical. The design that based on interlocking teeth, was created by Judson's employee which happened to be Gideon Sunback. In 1913 he patented as the "Hookless Fastener"and as more improvements patented in 1917 as the "Separable Fastener". Gideon remodeled Judson's model on the zipper, and applied to the clothing and gear of the troops in thew U.S. Army during World War 1.
